A Pillar of San Diego Baseball Needs Our Help: Supporting Coach Rich Lansner

Mention the name Rich Lansner to anyone in the San Diego baseball community, and the response is always the same: "Great coach, but an even better human."

For decades, Rich has poured his heart and soul into the youth of Lake Murray, Del Cerro, and San Carlos. Whether it was through Lake Murray Little League, San Carlos Little League, the San Diego Cowboys, Padres Youth Baseball Camps, TBT, KPA, or Patrick Henry High School, Rich hasn’t just taught the game of baseball—he has mentored countless young athletes into better people.

Alongside his wife, Rich has raised his 14-year-old son, Lucas—an elite athlete following in his father's footsteps—while serving as a pillar of support for everyone else’s children. Now, it is our turn to be the pillar for him.

The Challenge

Four years ago, Rich’s life was unexpectedly disrupted by recurring seizures. These episodes have sidelined him from the work he loves and the ball fields where he is most at home. Beyond the physical toll, the impact on the Lansner family has been immense:

Loss of Independence: Recurring seizures have at times stripped Rich of his ability to drive, making it difficult to maintain a work schedule or get Lucas to his own practices.

Financial Strain: Changing medical coverage and mounting ICU bills have created a mountain of debt.

A Recent Setback: Last week, Rich spent five nights in the ICU following another severe round of seizures. Recovery from an event like this isn't overnight; it requires time, rest, and intensive medical focus.

How You Can Help

The Lansner family is facing a level of stress that no family should have to carry alone. We are reaching out to the communities Rich has served so faithfully to ask for your support.

Our goal is to provide Rich with the financial breathing room he needs to:

Manage daily transportation and household costs when he is unable to drive.
