Support Coach Matt Thomas on His Road to Recovery

We're reaching out to rally support for our assistant baseball coach, Matt Thomas, who recently suffered a serious injury while doing what he loves—coaching young athletes. While working in the batting cages, and at no fault of his own, Coach Matt was struck in the eye by a baseball, resulting in an orbital floor blowout fracture that requires urgent surgery (a fracture to his eye socket). He also suffered a fracture to his nose that may require surgery.

Coach Matt is not just a coach—he’s a mentor, a role model, and is selfless with the time he has voluntarily dedicated to our kids. Whether it's cheering players on from the dugout or offering encouragement when it's needed most, he’s always there for the team. Now, he needs us to step up for him.

Because Coach Matt does not have health insurance, the cost of surgery and follow-up care will be a significant financial burden (health insurance is offered at his place of employment, but due to a change in his wife's job and insurance, he doesn't qualify at his work until October, when open enrollment starts for the fiscal year). He will also be out of work for several weeks during his recovery, further straining his ability to meet everyday expenses, including taking care of his family, his wife, son, and daughter.
