A little update on my dad; after 2 denials and countless hours of my mom and I as well as his doctors arguing with the insurance company, my dad was approved for 14 days at the rehabilitation center, hoping to have it extended to 21 days. This is such a blessing, he needs this so much and we are all so thankful for it being approved. However, that will only cover the beginning of his rehabilitation journey. After the insurance stops fully covering the rehab, they will be responsible for 30% of the costs. The doctors believe he will need around 4-6 months of rehabilitation, possibly even longer. As I'm sure many of you know, healthcare prices are insane. My parents do not have the extra funds it would take to cover the amount of rehab he will need to get back walking, eating, and caring for himself on his own. We would greatly appreciate if you all would continue sharing and spreading the word about our gofundme so we can get my dad all the help he needs. All of the donations so far will be such a huge help, and we thank you all for your generosity. We have also made sure to read my dad all of the kind comments and words of support from you all, it means so much to him, to us as well. Thank you all so much for loving him as much as we do

Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
As some of you may know, my dad Tom Marsh aka Coach Marsh or Fat Rat, suffered from a stroke and heart attack Friday, February 21 2025. Against all odds he survived, but will need months of rehabilitation to be able to be independent again. Unfortunately, his Humana through Medicare denied his referral from the doctors to be transferred to a high-level rehabilitation facility, claiming his care is medically unnecessary. Any of you who know my dad know he is a strong, selfless person who always puts others first, whether it be friends, family, or the kids he so passionately coached and mentored. He has faced many challenges, but none as serious as what he is currently going through.
After his stroke and heart attack, my dad was left struggling to regain the basic abilities we all take for granted-walking, eating, talking, and caring for himself. His entire left side is currently paralyzed, and he is left handed making this much harder on him. He has excellent doctors who believe with rehabilitation he will be able to regain most movement in his left side, and they have continuously advocated for him to the insurance company, yet Humana still denied his transfer to a rehab facility. Without proper rehabilitation, his recovery is at risk, and his chances of regaining independence are significantly reduced. The emotional, physical, and financial toll on our family is overwhelming, but we are not giving up on him.
We are asking for help raising funds for his rehabilitation. Any amount, no matter how small, will mean the world to us and go towards covering the cost of speech, physical, and occupational therapy, as well as other medications and treatments that insurance is refusing to cover. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign. Your support means the world to our family, and will make a real difference in my dad's recovery journey.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and generosity. We are forever grateful for each and every one of you. We want to see him back in the gym, coaching, and hanging out at the beach, and I am sure all of you do as well.
