Support Coach Jenn's Family After Hurricane Milton

This is Coach Kirsten, the Director of Rowing at the Orlando Area Rowing Society (OARS). During Hurricane Milton, one of our coaches was severely affected by the storm. For several years, I've worked side by side with one of the best humans I know, Coach Jenn. Jennifer Reynolds is our Strength & Conditioning Coach at OARS who has impacted hundreds of rowers that have passed through our boathouse gates.

Coach Jenn and her family were shocked awake in the middle of the night when a tree crashed through their home.

Jenn, Colby, Cora, Kenzie, Garrett, along with Lily the dog and Midnight the cat, were riding out the storm in the center of their house. Jenn had put mattresses down and they were all together in one room without power, but riding out the storm. At 3:30 am, they were shocked awake when a tree crashed through the roof and nearly on top of them. Jenn yelled. "Everyone ok?" Baby didn’t stir.. she was asleep through it all with debri on her when I grabbed her. They were spared by inches. Spared from being crushed. Crushed you guys. By some miracle, they weren't. Ceiling, glass, fiberglass, and tree fell on them, but they were not hurt. Things are things. Homes, toys, furniture… things. They are so grateful that they were able to walk away. Jenn and her kids know that Jesus was watching over them. This will forever shift their perspective and hope it helps shift others too. Worry about nothing, pray about everything. Things. Lose the obsession over nice things and gain the priceless obsession of gratitude.

They had just moved into this house over the summer and had put a ton of sweat equity into turning it in to their home. It is now a loss and they are trying to figure out how to put the pieces together. Their insurance company will be involved, but they will need to rebuild their home. Combined with meeting their hurricane deductible, and being without a home, this is going to be a challenging time for the entire family.
