Support Coach Elliot's Recovery Journey

Hi, my name is Nick and the family you see in the picture are the Thompsons. On Monday, June 3rd, I received the most heart-breaking news… The patriarch of the Thompson family, Coach Elliot, had suffered a life-altering stroke which has left him paralyzed. We are asking for donations to help with medical expenses and necessary equipment to help Coach Elliot transition home to rehabilitate to this new normal.

Given this terrible news, my mind went to how could I help Coach Elliot and his family in their time of need. Coach Elliot has selflessly donated his time and energy coaching youth baseball and softball teams for over 40 years. Some of my best memories of Coach Elliot and his family start in the summer of 1989. We were in the middle of another summer ball season playing Hot Stove Baseball with my boys led by Coach Elliot. A summer job opportunity came up to make a little money doing farm work. So, I went to Coach Elliot with cap in hand and said I was going to have to quit playing ball for this summer job. He smiled and said, “well if you want a job that bad you can come work with me doing plumbing that way you can make it to practice and games”. This turned out to be one of the most influential times in my life that still shapes me to this day. Thank you, Coach Elliot, for not only teaching me how to read a tape measure but how to use one. Thank you, Coach Elliot, for not only teaching me how to play ball, but how to be a man - respectful, honest, and hardworking.

Fast forward to today, Coach Elliot has spent more than 2 months being transferred to specialist hospitals, undergoing surgeries, treatments, and physical therapy just to relearn how to eat. At times the outlook was bleak, but thankfully through sheer determination, a little modern medicine, and God’s grace, Coach Elliot has reached a state of medical stability. Thus, I would like to pay it forward to help Coach Elliot and his family in their time of need.
