Support Coach Carina's Visa Journey

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well. Today, I am reaching out to share something very personal and important to me—my journey as a soccer coach and my pursuit of stability through a work visa.

Soccer has been my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Brazil, I spent countless hours on the field, honing my skills and living out my passion for the game. I played semiprofessionally, and the love for soccer has only deepened as I’ve transitioned into coaching. For over a decade, I’ve dedicated myself to nurturing young talent and building a vibrant community around the sport I cherish.

For the past four seasons, I’ve had the privilege of working with DC Way (DC local soccer club based in Capitol Hill), a role that has allowed me to share my passion with the next generation of players. As the girls' coordinator, I strive to create an inclusive environment where every athlete can thrive, learn, and grow. My heart is in this work, and I’m committed to supporting all of you for as long as possible.

However, every year brings the uncertainty of my visa application, a process that can take up to nine months without any guarantee of approval. This precarious situation weighs heavily on me, as I want nothing more than to continue contributing to our community without the looming anxiety of not knowing if I can stay.

To secure my future here, I am seeking to obtain an EB-3 work visa. This will provide the stability I need to continue my work without interruption. Unfortunately, the application process comes with significant costs—around $30,000. To make this dream a reality, I have launched an online fundraising campaign.
