Unfortunately, Butch began to have serious health and memory issues about a year ago that affected his ability to teach and coach. Butch retired, reluctantly, on March 1, 2019 as Director of Football Operations at Saddleback College after forty-three years with the football program.
With no wife, or children, very limited income and his illness (Alzheimer’s), Butch is struggling emotionally and financially. He no longer has the job he loved and also has surrendered his driver’s license and car. Most of his former students and friends don’t know he is retired and facing one of the most difficult times of his life.
We (his nephew and nieces) are sincerely asking you for your help. Butch worked as a part-time faculty member at Saddleback College for years and never had a great income as a part-time Teacher and Coach. He doesn’t have resources to live on other than his limited retirement income. Your donations will be used to assist with his medical needs and to offset his living expenses in a safe, healthy place where he’ll live out his remaining years. We hope to raise enough to support him for the remainder of his life. Should he pass before the donations are spent, the remaining funds will be donated to support the Saddleback College football program and to create an Annual Coach Butcher Memorial Scholarship.
Thank you for the thoughts, prayers and support Butch has already received from so many of you. He is humbled and grateful for all that everyone is doing for him.
