Support Coach Agena and the Kalakaua Foundation

Tax deductible
The Kalakaua Foundation, led by Coach Dennis Agena and supported by his amazing wife, Aunty Leilani, and generations of volunteer coaches, has defined basketball on Oahu and throughout the state of Hawaii for over forty years.

"Clinic" as most of us know it, has evolved many times, from the early days in Kalihi, to Sundays at Kalani High School, to Moanalua High School, and is thriving in its newest form at Palama Settlement where Coach continues to offer clinics to young basketball players, ages 7 though 17.

Through fundamentals and ball-handling, Coach instills values in young players that they will use for life:
  • RESPECT for adults, coaches, and teammates;
  • COMMITMENT to improving themselves and showing up for their team;
  • LISTENING to instruction and DOING what you are told;
  • WORKING HARD in basketball and in the classroom; and
  • BE HUMBLE.

Coach is looking for help from former players through donations to the Kalakaua Foundation to continue to offer affordable clinics and to expand the Foundation's reach. Proceeds will go to gym fees, cones, basketballs, nets, tables, chairs, and most importantly, to fulfill Coach's goal to establish a scholarship fund to support economically disadvantaged players in furthering their education.

There are two ways you can help:
  • If you are able, please consider making a donation to the Kalakaua Foundation through the link on this page. Any amount will help to make an impact and all proceeds will go to the Foundation.
  • Please fill out this Google form: Contact Information for the Kalakaua Foundation . Coach is looking to build a database of his former players. In this form you will also have the opportunity to share your Clinic memories with Coach and let him know how Clinic has impacted your life. This information will not be shared publicly and will be used for Foundation related future outreach, only.

Please consider donating so Coach can continue his important work in mentoring Hawaii's young basketball players.
