Save Sequalitchew
With your support, we filed a legal appeal challenging the approval of the Pioneer Aggregates mine expansion near Sequalitchew Creek. Because appeals must be filed within a very short legal deadline, this was our one opportunity to preserve the public's right to challenge the decision in court.
Now the real work begins.
Our goal is to raise **$15,000** to help cover legal fees, court costs, printing, and campaigning throughout the appeal process.
This case is about more than one permit. It is about ensuring that our environmental laws are followed before irreversible impacts occur.
The approved project would expand mining into an area containing wetlands and groundwater resources connected to Sequalitchew Creek. The City's decision recognizes that important questions remain regarding wetlands, groundwater, stream flows, and aquatic habitat. It also relies on future studies and future mitigation planning to address some of those concerns.
We believe those questions should be answered before a project is allowed to move forward, not after permits have been issued.
Sequalitchew Creek is one of the last places in our community where people can experience a landscape that still feels wild. It supports wildlife, fish habitat, and wetlands that cannot be replaced once they are damaged.
This appeal is our opportunity to ask the court to ensure that environmental review is complete, transparent, and consistent with the law before these resources are put at risk.
If you believe in protecting clean water, wetlands, fish habitat, and responsible decision-making, please consider making a donation. Every contribution helps us continue this fight.
If you can't donate, sharing this campaign with your friends, neighbors, and community groups is another powerful way to help.
Thank you for standing with us to save Sequalitchew Creek.
