Help Us Appeal the Sequalitchew Mine Expansion
We have just five days to raise the $1,500 needed to file an appeal of the recently approved Pioneer Aggregates mining project near Sequalitchew Creek.
This project threatens wetlands, groundwater, and one of the most beloved natural areas in our community.
While the City approved the project, the decision itself acknowledges significant unresolved environmental concerns, including potential impacts to wetlands, groundwater, stream flows, and aquatic habitat.
Perhaps most concerning, the approval relies on future studies and future mitigation plans to answer questions that have not yet been resolved. The City's own experts acknowledged that additional information is needed to determine whether environmental impacts can actually be mitigated and whether the required "no net loss" of ecological function can be achieved.
We believe these questions should be answered before approval, not afterward.
Sequalitchew Creek is a rare and special place. Once this project moves forward, the damage cannot easily be undone. This appeal may be our last opportunity to ensure that the environmental review is complete, transparent, and compliant with the law.
If you care about protecting Sequalitchew Creek, local wetlands, salmon habitat, groundwater resources, and responsible environmental review, please consider donating and sharing this campaign.
We have five days. Every contribution helps.
Thank you for standing with us.
