Support Clint Mesa's Road to Recovery

Hello,
The Mesa Family needs our help. Their 18-year-old son was in an accident, and they would appreciate any assistance to help pay for medical bills and future medical needs.

Here’s What We Know So Far About Clint’s Injury and Recovery:

Clint fell approximately 30 feet from a building. On the way down, he hit a concrete pillar, which—miraculously—saved his life by stopping his fall. However, the impact also caused serious injuries to his spine.
    •    He suffered a burst fracture at the L3 vertebra, meaning the bone essentially exploded on impact. He also has compression fractures in two additional vertebrae.
    •    In the ER, Clint could wiggle his toes but was unable to move his legs—still, this was a hopeful sign.
    •    He had back surgery Saturday evening to stabilize his spine. Surgeons placed metal hardware two levels above and two below the fracture. The incision on his back is about 7 inches long.
    •    The spinal cord ends just about 2 inches above where his fracture occurred—a crucial detail. Because the injury was just below that point, he avoided total paralysis.
    •    However, the bone fragments did sever nerves below the spinal cord, which are responsible for movement and control in the legs—especially his left leg. The doctors repaired the tear as best they could.
    •    At this point, the surgeon says it’s unclear how much function Clint will regain in his left leg, if any. Nerve recovery is slow and uncertain, and what movement he regains within a year to 18 months is likely what he’ll keep long-term.
    •    After surgery, Clint had to lie completely flat for 48 hours to reduce spinal fluid pressure and allow healing. When they tried to sit him up last night, he developed a severe headache—a strong sign that spinal fluid may still be leaking.
    •    They had him lie back down immediately, and the doctor will reevaluate in the morning to decide next steps.
    •    Clint will remain in the hospital for another 4 to 6 days… maybe longer, depending on how he progresses.
    •    Due to the severity of his injury, he will most likely need inpatient rehabilitation once discharged to begin the long road to recovery.

We’re taking things day by day and holding on to every small victory—especially the fact that he is alive. Please keep praying for healing, movement, and strength in the days ahead.
