It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved Cleveland Whalen Jr. on Saturday, June 28th. He was a father, husband, big brother, grandpa, uncle, brother, coach, mentor, hero, and friend, a man who held many titles and wore each of them with pride, love, and unwavering dedication.

To know Cleveland was to witness greatness cloaked in humility. As a former Olympic-level runner and competitive bodybuilder, he treated his body as a temple, a daily testament to his extraordinary discipline, commitment, and strength. Yet beyond his athleticism, it was his gentle smile, quiet wisdom, and kind heart that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Cleveland’s passing has left an indescribable void in our lives. He was our rock, our protector, our motivator, and our safe place. His loss has shaken our family to the core, not just emotionally, but also practically, as we now face the difficult task of planning his funeral and laying him to rest in a way that honors the incredible man he was.

We are reaching out to our community, friends, loved ones, extended family, former teammates, mentees, and those touched by his light for support. Any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward funeral services and cemetery costs, helping us celebrate Cleveland’s life with the dignity and honor he so deeply deserves.
