If you know me, you know my best friend who’s tail never stops wagging, Cleona. My sweet girl was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease in 2022, and since then she has faced many complications that have left her in and out of hospitals including different specialists and University of Florida’s Small Animal Hospital. Her case has puzzled several veterinarians, as she is not the typical “textbook” presentation. Over the past couple of months, we have been working to stabilize what we believed to be a flare of pancreatitis alongside her Addison’s Disease. Today was turning into a good day for her, but within just an hour Cleona began to decline rapidly. She is now under the care of the wonderful team at BluePearl for the next couple of nights. What we thought was an Addisonian Crisis has quickly turned into the need for a blood transfusion. To stabilize her and get more answers, further testing and treatment are required but unfortunately, this comes with significant costs in addition to her visits the past few months. As a full-time Master’s in Social Work student, I am reaching out to my community for support. Every donation will go directly toward Cleona’s medical bill and will help us better understand if her condition is curable so we can take the next appropriate steps. If we reach over the target goal, donations will go towards future visits, daily medications and special prescription food that she will be on for the rest of her life. Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and for sharing Cleona’s story ❤️.
If you are aware of any resources or organizations that can support me during this time, especially as I am currently unemployed and a full-time student, please don’t hesitate to share them or message me directly.
