Help Us Save Daisy Mae
Hi, I’m Jeremy Sons, President of Clear Creek Adventure Ranch – Rescue & Education, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal sanctuary.
We are coming to the public because we need your help.
Yesterday, a tiny 3-day-old miniature Hereford/Angus cross calf came into our lives.
She weighs only about 25 pounds.
When she arrived, both of her little eyes were white, swollen, and obviously not right. We loaded her up and rushed her straight to the veterinarian, praying for a miracle.
The news wasn’t what we hoped for.
The veterinarian told us that Daisy Mae is otherwise a perfectly healthy little calf.
But while she was still in her mother’s womb, her eyes developed a severe infection. She was born completely blind.
There is no chance that she will ever regain her sight.
One of her eyes has already ruptured, and both eyes are causing her pain. If they aren’t removed, they will continue to cause pain and could lead to serious infections.
The veterinarian looked at me and asked, “What is your goal for her?”
I didn’t have to think about it.
“My goal is for her to live… without pain.”
There was a time in my life when I believed there was only one option for an animal like this.
But life has taught me differently.
I’ve watched blind animals run, play, explore, and live lives so full of joy that most people would never even realize they couldn’t see. Every single day, they remind me that blindness doesn’t mean life is over.
The choices were laid out in front of us.
We could choose euthanasia…
Or we could fight for her.
The surgery to remove both of Daisy Mae’s eyes will take away the pain she’s living with today and prevent future infections. The veterinarians told us they’ve seen animals recover beautifully after this surgery and go on to live happy, comfortable lives.
For us…
There was only one choice.
We are going to fight for Daisy Mae.
I carry something with me every day of my life.
Twenty years ago, when my daughter was born with special needs, I spent too much time believing something was wrong.
I wish I had fought harder.
I wish I had understood sooner.
Because the truth is… there was never anything wrong with her.
She was absolutely perfect.
That lesson has shaped who I am and how I live every single day.
Now when an animal with special needs crosses my path, I don’t see what’s missing.
I see what’s possible.
I truly believe God places certain lives in our path for a reason.
You can’t save everything.
But when something is placed right in front of you, and you have the opportunity to help… I believe you should.
Today, we’re asking for your help so we can give Daisy Mae that chance.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward her surgery, veterinary care, medications, and everything she’ll need as she learns to navigate life as a blind calf.
We have faith.
Faith that this little girl still has a beautiful life ahead of her.
Faith that one day she’ll run across the pasture, recognize our voices, and show the world that blindness doesn’t define a life.
If you’re able to donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
If you’re not able to give, please share Daisy Mae’s story.
Your kindness, your prayers, and your support mean more than you’ll ever know.
