Support Clay's Homecoming & Reentry

Clay Is Coming Home!

Clay is coming home to his family in the Bay Area after over three decades of incarceration and we are raising funds to support him in his transition home.

Clay was arrested in 1988 as a 16 year old. Clay became eligible for parole in 1996, but the Board of Parole Hearings denied Clay over and over again despite the fact that Clay was rehabilitating himself, working hard in programs, and building a beautiful family of his own to come home to upon release. For the last two years, Clay has been in court on SB 1437 resentencing. Former Los Angeles District Attorney (DA) Jackie Lacey opposed Clay’s case - along with hundreds of other people who deserve relief – fighting tooth and nail along with the California Attorney General’s office who unjustly delayed Clay’s hearings and made frivolous arguments that Clay wasn’t eligible for resentencing. They continued to deny Clay justice even during the COVID-19 pandemic and the outbreak occurring at San Quentin where Clay was housed. In October 2020, the appellate court sided with Clay and sent the case back to the trial court for review. Now the new Los Angeles DA George Gascon’s office has agreed with the appellate court that Clay should have never been charged with a life sentence, and the office is requesting the judge resentence Clay to 4 years. Having already served 8 times his new sentence, Clay will be released to his family in the coming week.

We are asking for the community to step up and help us raise funds to support Clay and his family to build a new life for Clay out here. The money will be used to support Clay in buying clothes, necessities, a phone, and getting on his feet as he settles into a new job to support his wife and their three beautiful children and a new granddaughter who Clay has yet to meet in person.

Any amount you can give helps. Thank you for your time and for supporting Clay and his family as they enter this new chapter of his life.
