Support Tio Claudio's Recovery from Heart Attack and Stroke
Donation protected
We are Cindy, Jasmine, and David — two nieces and one honorary nephew — writing on behalf of our Superman, “Tío” [uncle]. (His given name is Claudio, but out of over a dozen collective uncles, he’s the one whom we ALL call “tío”. [uncle]) And if you met him, you’d feel like he’s your uncle or family, too.
Tío [uncle] has worked his whole life installing floors in people’s home, catering food for individual homes and major events, and performing many other intensive labors of love — yet he has never failed to help with dozens of moves, many graduations, and one of walking Jasmine down the wedding aisle. (Cindy hopes he’ll do the same with her!) He loves dancing bachata, cooking traditional family recipes, and watching soccer — sometimes all at the same time!
We were surprised when someone so strong of heart and mind complained of chest pain — he [tío] rarely complains. And then we were shocked when that pain turned out to be a heart attack. As we were still processing that news, a supposedly routine diagnostic procedure with a 1-in-10,000 chance of causing a stroke, resulted in just that, in the stroke affecting a part of his brain that controls his right bodily movement. Despite these setbacks, tío continues fighting day-by-day, regaining motion in the right side of his body, one millimeter at a time, little by little, day by day.
Tío’s health insurance fortunately covers emergency procedures, but not the weeks of intensive rehabilitation and follow-up visits that will help him walk on his own, dance again, and play fútbol with the half-corgi half-Aussie Scooby Doo, his “perrito precioso [precious dog]”. At this moment, what Tío really needs is your support in being able to afford what is next to come for him on his road to recovery. Whether you are able to contribute $50-$100 for a home visit from a physical therapist or occupational therapist, $500-$1000 for a day of rehabilitation care, $1,000-$5,000 towards the stents that hold his heart’s vessels open, or any part thereof — any amount will help this uncle to all folksx, and Superman on the inside, become a Superman on the outside again.
With love and gratitude,
Cindy, Jasmine, and David
Dear community,
This fundraiser has been created to support my dear best friend’s Tío’s recovery from a heart attack and stroke. As the world continues to get uglier, right now is the time to come together and support one another in community. Please help in whatever capacity you can by sharing, donating, and sending this directly to friends and family! Every bit of support matters in Tío’s recovery.
Thank you!
