Hello, my name is Claudia and in the picture above is my much-beloved 90-year-old Dad, Peter. We've always had a close relationship ever since I was little, especially in these past years when we talked for hours on the phone and would take trips together when I visited.

Last week, my Dad was found on the floor in his house, where he lives alone. He fell and was lying there for 5 days before worried neighbors found him and called for help. He was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with severe dehydration, low oxygen levels, a UTI, and kidney pain from the UTI and from the breakdown of muscles. The doctors suspect that he has brain damage from the low oxygen levels, but aren't able to fully confirm that because he has been unresponsive since Saturday, April 12. He's in severe pain and is treated with painkillers and, occasionally, with morphine. He hasn't had anything to eat or drink since he fell. Of course, the hospital is keeping him hydrated now, but "food" is also only coming in intravenously. On top of which, he now has diarrhea, which makes matters worse.

He lives in Germany and I am here in the United States. As his daughter, I want to and need to be there. The hospital is urging me to come as there is paperwork to be signed. Because of his critical condition, I want to go to Germany as soon as possible to advocate for him. This might also be the last time I get to see him.

I'd like to stay for at least a month or as long as is needed. The funds I'm asking for are to cover expenses both here and in Germany as I'm not working in order to be with him.
