Hello,

My name is Claudia Harvey. For the past three years, I have been struggling with one unplanned and unexpected event and expense after another. Ranging from home repairs to being out of work longer than expected from having arm surgery, to major auto repairs (my only means of transportation) just a couple of months after returning to work from the surgery, only to end up back out of work three months later due to a more serious health issue that has kept me out of work from September 2024 to present.

Which brings me to why I am writing my story and asking for help through GoFundMe.

On the evening of Thursday, September 12th, 2024, I blacked out on my back porch. On September 14th, 2024, in the afternoon, I was found on my back porch and taken to the hospital. While in the ER, they discovered that my hemoglobin level was a 6.7 and had to give me a blood transfusion as well as some fluids for dehydration. Before they released me, they told me that I was losing blood but weren't sure where or how, as all of their tests didn't give any answers. Since then, I have been back in the hospital two more times needing blood transfusions and had an IV iron infusion done. There are still more tests and procedures that I need to get done because they don't know if I am losing the blood by bleeding internally or if my body just isn't producing enough. All we do know for certain is that according to all the blood tests that keep getting done, most of my levels are staying low more times than increasing. We also know that it is affecting my blood pressure, blood sugar, heart rate, and vision, and causing dizziness and lightheadedness. I am also classified as being a high risk for falls and possible concussions due to the blackouts. So, I am having to use a walker when I stand up and/or walk.

I have been trying my best to raise the funds needed to take care of my monthly bills, medical bills, and repairs. The more I have tried, the further behind I have been getting. While most of the companies that I have to deal with for my living expenses have been working with me as far as doing payment plans so far, there has been one that has refused on several occasions through different park managers to accept partial payments. In fact, I was even told that I had to make the full payment or none at all until I am able to make the full payment. The last time I personally spoke with the newest park manager, I was told by both the newest park manager and the person at the home office that they would work with me as long as I kept them updated and if I get any documentation to call so that they could get a copy of it. I was doing exactly what I was told to do and called multiple times and left several voicemail messages without receiving a single call back. I even called the person at the home office and left several messages for them with no return call as well.

Through all of this, I went to DSS seeking assistance and/or referrals to places that may be able to assist in some way. I asked my primary doctor if he knew of any places that may be able to assist. I even tried applying for a program through my employer, as well as tried to pull the funds from my 401(k) plan through my employer and was told that I could only pull my funds in a loan capacity if I had a hardship. I asked them if they considered being taken to court for eviction a hardship, and their reply was that it is only considered a hardship if the eviction actually gets granted. After going to or calling by phone every place that I have thought of and that has been referred to me, I have received the same responses over and over again. The first main response has been, "Do you have any minor children living with you?" and when I say "No," they reply with, "I'm sorry, but the only programs we have are for people with minor children." The second response has been, "Do you have a current lot rent lease?" and when I reply with what I have and with what I was told by not one but two different park managers when I asked the park managers about it, "The lease auto-renews every year without having to sign a new one," the response I get is, "I'm sorry, but without an up-to-date lot rent lease or a letter from the mobile home park management that shows the current date, monthly lot rent charge, and how much is owed with their signature on it, we can't help you." I even called the home office and explained what I was needing, and they said that they would email it to me. Even after asking about the letter multiple times only to get told that they emailed it to me and that I could find a copy of it in their app, I have not received it. To the best of my knowledge, they never tried to resend it to me either.

Now to add even more to my plate, I am now facing eviction from my own mobile home by the mobile home park management. They had the court papers drawn up on May 8th. On May 14th, sometime after noon, they stuck the papers between the screen door and door frame to where you could barely see it. On the paperwork, it states that I have to go to court on the 21st. After spending all day calling attorneys on the 15th, one of the attorneys told me to go to the magistrate and ask for a continuance. I did exactly what I was told to do only to get told an attorney has to request a continuance. I was also told that I have to have the full amount of what I owe the day of court. If I can't come up with the funds to pay what I owe on the day of court and they evict me from my own mobile home, I will be homeless and lose everything I have because this mobile home is all I have and nowhere to go and nowhere to put my stuff.

I'm still waiting for the hold to be lifted on my long-term disability through my employer as the company is waiting on medical records in order to finish processing it. Without it, I have absolutely no income coming in, and it's putting me even further behind on everything. Now on top of the monthly, medical, and repair bills, I have to add an attorney fee.

I know I keep getting told that I am smart and strong, but since all this started with the blackouts and losing blood, I don't feel smart or strong at all. I feel terrified, stressed, depressed, and alone.

With that said, any donations that are made will go directly into the bank and will go towards:

  • Trying to save my home (i.e., back owed lot rent, court costs, and attorney's fee)
  • If any is remaining after that, it will go towards living and medical expenses first, then repairs.

I would like to take this time to thank you for taking the time to read my story. It is truly appreciated from the depths of my heart.

Any amount that you may be willing to donate is truly appreciated. Even if you are unable to contribute at this time, sharing with your friends and family would be greatly appreciated and mean the world to me.

Many thanks in advance.
