We are George Case, Claralee [Case] Irobunda, Eltha Banks, and Redmond Rinehart. On behalf of the Case family, we are raising money for Clarksonville Baptist Church in the parish of St. Ann, Jamaica, which was heavily damaged during Hurricane Melissa. The Case family has been spiritually impacted by this church for almost 150 years.
History and Significance of Clarksonville Baptist Church
Since 1838, Clarksonville Baptist Church has served as a vital part of the St. Ann community. Over the years, it has provided spiritual leadership, support for farmers, social welfare initiatives, and educational opportunities. For nearly two centuries, the church has stood as a steadfast symbol of God’s enduring love and has remained a spiritual center for the community.
Impact of Hurricane Melissa
During Hurricane Melissa, the church suffered catastrophic damage. The category 5 hurricane brought winds exceeding 185 miles per hour, which completely destroyed the church roof and many original, antique stained-glass windows. As a result, the main sanctuary was exposed to the elements while the storm battered the island. Many pews were damaged, and the room beneath the main sanctuary, which is used as a preschool, was also affected.
Fundraising Goals and Use of Proceeds
All funds raised will go directly to the church rebuilding fund. The initial focus will be on replacing the roof and windows, which is urgently needed as ongoing heavy rains continue to cause further damage to the exposed sanctuary and the rooms below. Any remaining funds will be used to repair or replace damaged pews, hymnals, aisle runners, and other interior features that have been ruined by water damage. As soon as the funds are available, George will travel from Canada to Clarksonville to personally oversee the entire renovation project.
How You Can Help
We are deeply grateful for any donation you can make. Your support will make a significant difference in restoring Clarksonville Baptist Church as a beacon of hope to the community. We kindly ask that you share this fundraiser with others and pray for all those impacted by the recent devastation in Jamaica. Thank you and may God bless you.
