Hello everyone, I'm gonna be honest I'm not sure what to say on this. My amazing husband who is 23 years old and will be 24 this upcoming August, has been diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroendocrine Cancer (NET/NEC). It started in his lung, and has spread to liaison on his spine and a spot in his liver. It is estimated to have been there for up to 5 years. Neuroendocrine is a none curable cancer, but a treatable and livable one. He will need radiation on the spots on his spine for worry of losing function of the legs. And monthly shots to control the growth of the other two spots, or to hopefully shrink or at least fully stop the growth. the shots are called systemic radiation therapy for cancer it involves injecting radioactive medicines (radiopharmaceuticals) into the blood or taking them orally, allowing the treatment to travel throughout the body to target and destroy cancer cells. As of currently surgeries are of no help since the ones on the spine are to interconnected with the spinal column and the spot on his chest is surrounded by vital veins and organs. Over time if all goes well, the cancer spots will go into remission or what the doctor called retirement stage which will allow the treatment to become less and less. This will end up being more like a chronic illness that Clark will have to treat and monitor his whole life.
We will currently be traveling back and forth to MD Andersons in Houston, Texas and the cancer center with St. Domonic's here in Jackson for treatments. Treatments start immediately and will continue for the rest of his life.
We made this go fund me to help pay for his treatments and help with living expenses as work will become harder for Clark to stay with. His treatments will bring his immune system down and cause physical problems between the radiation treatments, as well as traveling to and from Houston for additional medical help from the cancer research and care facility. We are so lucky to have so many people in our lives that care so deeply for us, and appreciate any help from those who can. We will forever be grateful for those around us and the words of prayer those have provided. We are at the point that anything big or small is greatly appreciated and loved from us. I can not thank anyone enough for the love and support we have during probably the worst time of our lives.
