Support Clark Schoonover's Fight Against Liver Cancer
Donation protected
Greetings!
My name is Nicole Schoonover, I am Clark and Alice's daughter-in-law. I married their son Brent in 2005 and we have 2 daughters, Josie (14) and Millie (10).
I created this Go Fund Me for Clark and Alice Schoonover. They were hesitant to oblige, but the time is here to ask for some help.
In the Fall of 2024, Clark began to not feel well. His appetite had decreased, and fatigue was setting in. Originally dismissed as a virus during the first trip to the ER in November, turned into 2 more ER visits, and a trip to a gastroenterologist which led to a final diagnosis of advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma (liver cancer) at the end of January. Unfortunately surgery is not an option, the disease is too advanced and too aggressive. Right now the best course of treatment is trying immunotherapy to hopefully shrink the large tumor a bit to slow down the disease.
While they have insurance, there are still a lot of out of pocket expenses associated with Clark's current and upcoming care. We are raising money to help ease the burden of these costs, as well as be prepared to help Alice when Clark is no longer able to care for her.
We can't thank you enough for all the support you provided the Schoonover family last year when their oldest son Victor was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The benefit for him was a huge success and helped support Vic, his wife Jen and son Henry (14) through this last year during his own cancer treatments. Because of the most recent generosity they experienced for Victor, Clark and Alice felt they could not ask for any more help.
To have two family members diagnosed with such a terrible disease at the advanced stages they are is unfair. We keep asking why and how? The Schoonover's have had a tough 14 months and face an uncertain future. We are still fighting every step of the way. Clarks positive attitude and good Dad Jokes keep us all laughing and smiling. We love "The Amazing Opa!" A name we call him after his famous magic show he performed at the annual Skoonzmas celebration.
If you are unable to give, we ask for your prayers, good thoughts and well wishes. They mean the world to us!
Thank you,
The Schoonover Family
