Hi Friends, I am reaching out on behalf of my dear college friend, Clara Avalos. Clara has found herself in a uniquely difficult situation through a series of hardships that has left her in an alarming situation. Her story is below. My hope is that everyone who reads this will find a way to help in some way, whether it be by donating money, giving her shelter and/or or helping her to find a much needed job. She is a brilliant, beautiful soul who needs her network of friends to rally around and support her in her time of need. Thank you for considering!
A Decade of Health Crises and Setbacks
Ten years ago, my life began to unravel—not by choice, but by relentless waves of illness and trauma:
• I have advanced breast cancer and have been in and out of remission for years.
• I’ve had surgeries and have been hospitalized repeatedly—sometimes for weeks at a time.
• I went through a difficult divorce, lost financial stability, and had to rely on short-term contract work just to stay afloat.
• Throughout it all, I’ve had no family support, and no one I can call in an emergency.
Every time I made progress, something pulled me back under. But I kept going. I worked when I could. I fought to maintain hope. I lived on very little, always believing things would turn around.
In mid-2024, I lost my job when the company I worked for was sold and my position was eliminated. I had enough savings for six months. That was 14 months ago.
In April 2025, I had a freak accident, fell and broke my dominant arm. I needed surgery, which resulted in a bone infection that was growing up my arm. The injury has left me unable to use my arm, and I remain on antibiotics until another major surgery can be done this fall to remove the hardware.
I live alone and I've had no one to help me during my recovery. To make matters worse, while I was hospitalized, unable to work even the small gigs that I had relied on previously to get by, my landlord filed for eviction due to nonpayment of rent. I have now been ordered to vacate my home by August 14th. I am truly out of time, out of money, and out of options. I need the following: money that allows me to have a safe place to live while I get well and back on my feet; a job (please see paragraph below); and if I can't raise enough money to have a place of my own, I need a place to stay for awhile.
Job information: I’m actively seeking executive-level or director-level roles in procurement, contracts management, or compliance—remote or Boston-based. I’m also open to consulting and fractional opportunities where I can support organizations with strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, or contract governance. If you know of any openings or would be willing to make an introduction, I’d be deeply grateful. You can reach me at [email redacted] or connect with me on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/clarapavalos.
If you know me at all, you know that this is incredibly hard to ask for and I would not be doing it if I were not in a dire situation. I am out of time, out of options and alone. Thank you so much for taking time to read this and consider helping me.
