Clara Suzanne Maynard Wolan was a talented artist, a gifted florist and the youngest of four sisters. She was also the mother of three-Savanna, Dustin and Jessawynn. Clara's life was marked by beauty, creativity and hardship. After being diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia following the birth of her youngest child Clara spent many years battling severe mental and physical illnesses, including COPD and emphysema. After her father passed in 2009, Clara became homeless and spent time in and out of nursing facilities. Her daughter Jess never gave up on her, despite numerous obstacles-distance, restrictive California mental health laws, and personal hardships-Jess remained a constant source of love and support in Clara's life. In May 2023 Jess learned during a visit that her mother had been diagnosed with cancer, Clara due to her mental illness refused treatment. Jess did everything she could to be present, even losing jobs and stability in the process. Tragically Clara passed away in October 2024. The celebration of life is scheduled for July 27, 2025, a date chosen so Clara's oldest daughter can travel from Washington with her family. Jess has worked tirelessly to pull the pieces together, securing a public park venue, borrowing tables from friends and scraping together what she could to buy a car to make all of this happen. But now, she needs help covering the last pieces-flowers, food, linens and seating. Payment for food and flowers is due June 31st. All contributions will go directly to those costs. Any extra funds will help cover travel expenses for Clara's son Dustin who recently graduated from a sober living program and started a new job but cannot afford the trip on his own. Clara would want him there more than anyone. This isn't a large or fancy ceremony-just a heartfelt day to honor a woman who endured much and the daughter who never stopped showing up for her. Thank you so much for reading, sharing and supporting.
