Support Claire Swedberg and her Family
Donation protected
Claire is a writer, a teacher, and a deeply thoughtful and creative soul. She has recently been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. We are raising funds so that Claire can remain at home in comfort and peace—and so that her husband, Michael Wirth, can care for her without the crushing weight of financial stress.
Donations will go toward:
Claire’s medical treatments, including palliative care, which go far beyond what insurance will cover
Any comfort measures she needs
Making it possible for family to be by her side full-time
Memorial costs
Claire’s 2017 book, In the Valley of Mystic Light, co-written with Rita Hupy, is a revelatory exploration of Pacific Northwest artists that preserves and celebrates the creative history of the Skagit Valley region.
Her 2021 historical nonfiction book, The Medic, tells the harrowing true story of Henry Chamberlain, an American Army medic who endured over three years as a prisoner of war during World War II.
Claire has spent her life capturing the forgotten lives and stories of others. If her words have ever moved you—or if you simply want to help a kind person navigate a devastating disease with dignity and love—please consider giving. Every contribution helps. And if you can’t donate, please share this with those who can.
Thank you.
