Hi Ranger Family,
My name is Claire Serratelli - I am an art teacher, avid lover of the arts, mother of April Serratelli (Class of 2022, fellow DUFHER!), and now cancer fighter.
My diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer in October of 2023 was life altering. This type of breast cancer is known as the most aggressive type, with high recurrance rates and limited treatment options.
After a year and a half of chemotherapy, scalp cooling, surgery, radiation, more chemotherapy, I was finally 'cleared' in January of 2025 (see the picture of me "ringing the bell").
I was rediagnosed only 3 months later...more chemo, immunotherapy, and a bilateral mastectomy last month. I am trying to get a clinical trial match, as I am out of standard of care options since they have not worked for me.
I have been home, in recovery since my surgery, away from: teaching art to my students, walking my dog, going to yoga, visiting museums, going to concerts, seeing friends and family, and cheering on sports teams!
Please join my team, donate to the cause, help in any way you are able. There are many more stories like mine and your support will lessen someone you love from hearing "I'm sorry, it's cancer".
Love, Claire Serratelli
