Help Claire & Liyah Through This Difficult Time: A Fundraiser for Sara and Jake Heying’s Daughters
If there’s one thing Sara had in spades, it was confidence—more than most of us could dream of even on our best days. It made her a force to be reckoned with and meant that she did things her way—right up until the end. Unfortunately, that confidence also played a role in her unexpected and heartbreaking passing. Sara had every intention of handling it all on her terms, and for the first time in her life her confidence failed her and her time ran out.
Now, Sara’s daughters, Claire (17) and Liyah (14), are facing a new reality without their mom. And while they certainly inherited some of Sara’s strength, they need our help to ease their transition. Adrienne Sparks, Sara’s lifelong friend, is stepping up as their caregiver, providing stability and love. Meanwhile, her sister Michelle Stanton is working through the maze of paperwork and legal hurdles to establish custody of the girls and settle Sara’s estate, which—surprise, surprise—takes a little more time than anyone would like.
In the meantime, Clair and Liyah need support to maintain their daily lives as smoothly as possible. That means keeping them in their family home, making sure there are groceries in the fridge, sports fees are paid (club volleyball) and covering the basic essentials until the estate is finalized. Our goal is to raise enough to help with these expenses for the next six months.
Once things are in order, we know finances will be stable, but right now, they need us. So we’re asking for the community to come together and lend a hand. Every contribution, big or small, will make a real difference in helping them navigate this difficult time.
Thank you so much for supporting the Heying girls and honoring Sara (and Jake who preceded Sara in death). With gratitude, Kelley, Kate, Devon and Selena
P.S. – Sara would probably be rolling her eyes at this GoFundMe, but hey, we’re doing it anyway.
