Support CJ and Marki

The week of Thanksgiving, CJ began suffering a bad headache. Thanksgiving night, he started complaining of back and neck pain. Early Friday morning, he woke up vomiting with what they thought was a migraine, so they went to the ER. A CT of his head was done and came back clear. CJ would not wake for two hours and became unresponsive. He immediately started having seizures. After 6 big seizures, he was then airlifted to Dallas where he was intubated. The CT in Dallas showed complete brain swelling. They attempted 5 lumbar punctures before they were successful. The results showed Streptococcus pneumoniae turned into septic bacterial meningitis.

CJ’s brain was very sick and is still very sick. He was intubated and sedated for 6 days. He is still in ICU and will be in the hospital for a while. We do know he will be on IV antibiotics for 8-12 weeks and he may possibly need to go to a rehab facility before he’s able to return home. He is progressing in the right direction, but not out of the woods yet.

With all of the circumstances, both Marki and CJ will be out of work for the foreseeable future and are facing a daunting amount of medical expenses.
