Support Cindy's Family During Medical Crisis
My name is Cindy and I have started this for my family, mainly my brother and his family. Our mother had a heart attack on April 6th. She went in for a heart catheter on April 7th. During the heart catheter she suffered a stroke and had a pulmonary edema. She was put on a respiratory and sedated. They continued with the heart catheter and found that 2 of her arteries were completely gone and nothing they could do. Another one had an 80% blockage and they put a stint in. She has since been transferred to a larger hospital. Our family has suffered greatly with our mother and grandmother being in the hospital with no indication of when she will get out. We have also suffered financially. The cost of missing work, traveling to a different state for the hospital and having to eat out has been a huge burden. My brother also has 5 young kids at home, so he does have to go home occasionally to be with them. Any help that can be received during this difficult time would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I just want to update this. Mom is off the ventilator. She is now in the cardiovascular step down unit. She is going to be going in for testing tomorrow to see which pipe food and water will be going down. She is allowed to have ice chips right now, but that is it. She has been in the hospital 2 weeks now.
Another update. Mom is back in ICU. On April 21 her heart rate went over 200 and her blood pressure went real high. There were 12 people in her room working on her. I felt so helpless. After they got her heart rate down some, they moved her back to ICU. They scheduled a CT scan to see if there was another stroke and did some test to find out what happened. The CT scan was good. There wasn't any new brain bleeds or stroke. In fact, it showed some of the swelling had gone down. The other tests weren't so good. They found out that mom had MRSA. That is the worst staph infection she could get. Her antibiotics were changed to attack the MRSA. She was put back on the ventilator. She has been back in ICU and on the ventilator since the 21st. She has been in the hospital since April 6th and we don't know when she will get out. If you are able to help our family in any way, it will be greatly appreciated.
