Devoted, is the word I would describe Cindy. With her family, her jobs and in her life. She has a fighting spirit and has since birth. That fighting spirit is what will help through this journey.
In May Cindy (Redd) Melling started feeling really sick. She went to the Dr and they sent her up north. She recieved a diagnosis nobody is prepared for. Cindy was diagnosed with Leoimysarcoma, Endometrial cancer and stage 3 Cervical cancer that has progressed to her lymph nodes. She has undergone 1 surgery so far and is waiting on a PET scan to see if the cancer has progressed to her organs. She has been unable to work due to the most recent surgery and is facing insurance roadblocks. Cindy worked 2-3 jobs up until her latest surgery to make sure her kids/grandkids are taken care of. She has always put herself last. When her daughter McKenzii lost her husband 3 years ago Cindy moved to Blanding be near her and help her, 2 years later her son needed a transplant and she moved to Cedar City to take care of him. You may recognize Cindy from one of her jobs as an Ambulance driver, EMT medic and school bus driver. She always has a smile to share.
Cindy's dedication to her family is unmatched. She is a mom to 6 and grandma to 23. Her family is her greatest passion. When she wasn't working you could find her driving all over Utah to attend one of her grandkids events.
Over the next several months Cindy will be driving to treatment instead of kids events. She will have radiation treatments 6 times a week and Chemotherapy once a week for the next 6 weeks with the current diagnosis. She will be unable to work. Our hope is the PET scan will show good results and the cancer hasn't progressed. We will update once that information is available.
If you would like to donate via Venmo the Venmo is Shannon-Carpenter18 (her daughter) last 4 digits 8442.
