Hello. My name is Cindy. In July, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, and after many barriers, I am hopefully about to start treatment. I am starting this GoFundMe to try and raise money to help cover bills and car repair costs during this trying time in my and my children's lives.

I am a single mom to three amazing adult children, one of whom has special needs and is fully dependent on me financially. Since 2018, I have worked online and in person as an educator.

Last spring, I went to the doctor for a recurrent infection, which, after multiple failed rounds of antibiotics, eventually led to the discovery of large kidney stones in both of my kidneys. The largest was over 2 centimeters or nearly an inch in size. In December 2024, I underwent surgery to remove the bulk of the largest stone. Complications led to me developing a pleural effusion and having to spend a week in the hospital over Christmas.

Since then, the medical challenges have not ceased.

The infections have continued. The kidney stones are back and as large as ever, and this time they are causing kidney failure, which has led to multiple hospitalizations. I have a nephrostomy tube in my back and will be going into surgery again in just a few days to try and remove some of the stones.

Unfortunately, my kidneys are not the only worry right now. This summer, a scare sent me to the ER. There, they found a mass in my abdomen. Testing indicated it was possibly cancerous, and a few months ago, I had a total hysterectomy.

The biopsy results revealed Stage 3 Endometrial Cancer.

I am looking at least 4 months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, with the possibility of having to undergo radiation as well.

On top of everything, our minivan needs a new engine and is no longer usable. We are blessed to still have a car, but it’s a tight squeeze with all four of us, my wheelchair, and whatever else might need to fit in the back end. We were able to find a shop that will fix our minivan, but we can’t afford to repair it on our own.

Right now, we are struggling financially. With my medical struggles, I am out of work for the foreseeable future. My two other adult children do work to help support our family. However, without my paychecks from work, our financial situation has become increasingly difficult.
