Cindy McMullin has always been the kind of person who shows up for others, offering her time, comfort, and kindness whenever someone needed it. This year, however, life has thrown more than its share of challenges her way. In late September, Cindy was rushed to the ER with a burst appendix, which led to sepsis and a long, painful recovery. This was just the latest in a string of health crises—she’s also been battling long Covid, a ruptured cyst on the back of her leg, and was diagnosed with a tumor on her cervical spine. To make matters worse, she suffered a terrible fall in May that fractured both her hand and her orbital bones.
Each of these emergencies has meant more hospital stays, more tests, and more treatments, all with mounting costs. Cindy has only been able to work part time and occasionally drive for Uber, but with her health so fragile, every day she can’t work is another unpaid day. Her only steady income is Social Security, which just isn’t enough to cover her house note, car, utilities, and other essentials. The stress of these bills is overwhelming, especially when she’s already fighting so hard to heal.
Cindy has given so much to her friends and community over the years. Now, she needs our help. If you can spare anything—whether it’s a donation or just sharing her story—it would mean the world to Cindy. Let’s come together to support her through this difficult time and show her she’s not alone.
