My name is Meredith Davis, and I am raising funds to help my mother, Cindy Christian, during an incredibly difficult and ongoing medical journey.

For more than a year now, my mom has been battling serious complications with her ring finger that have turned into a long, painful, and exhausting process. What started as a finger issue eventually led to a suspected bone infection and the complete loss of cartilage in the joint.

After months of pain and uncertainty, she underwent surgery to check for infection. Not long after, she required a second, much more invasive surgery in December 2025. During that procedure, doctors had to cut apart a fused bone and implant a silicone joint in an effort to restore function and stop the damage.

Unfortunately, her recovery has not gone as hoped.

Because my mom suffers from Raynaud’s, her body does not heal the way it should. Since the December surgery, her skin has struggled to regrow, leaving an open area that will not close. To make matters worse, the infection that doctors believed had been cleared has flared back up, causing serious complications and putting the silicone joint at risk.

On January 20, 2026, she must undergo yet another surgery. Doctors will reopen the area, take another biopsy to determine what bacteria may still be present, thoroughly clean out the infection, and closely monitor the silicone joint. Looking ahead, her surgeon has already discussed the likelihood of a future skin graft taken from the side of her hand to act as a “bandage,” since the skin will not heal on its own.

All of this care must be done in New Orleans, Louisiana.

We live in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, but no local doctors are willing to treat her finger due to the complexity of her case and the fact that the original procedure was done elsewhere. This has forced us to travel back and forth to New Orleans frequently for appointments, procedures, and follow-ups, adding emotional, physical, and financial strain.

Because of these ongoing medical issues, my mom has been unable to work for a combined total of about two and a half months. The loss of income, combined with constant travel and medical expenses, has made it extremely difficult for her to make ends meet.

The funds raised through this GoFundMe will help cover:

Lost wages due to extended time off work

Medical bills and required copays for procedures

Gas and travel expenses between Ocean Springs and New Orleans

Basic daily necessities such as groceries, pet food and month to month expenses.

My mom has always been a strong, hardworking, and independent person. Asking for help does not come easily, but right now she truly needs support to get through this and focus on healing.
