Hello, my name is Tammy Whittaker, and I would like to introduce you to my sweet friend Cindy Christian a smart, courageous, and fun-loving California girl now living in Texas. Before moving to Texas this fighter overcame two bouts of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and kicked the butt of breast cancer. These medical issues on their own took a huge financial burden on her family. But as survivors they knew the place to move, live and work, was outside of Houston, Texas. Cindy and her husband moved here with their grandson who has known only Cindy and her husband, Pat, to be a strong and driving force in his life since the age of two. This sweet child truly feels the sun rises and shines on his wonderful grandparents.
Cindy is currently employed as the clerical on the high school campus of Deer Park ISD for the special education department after beginning her time as a paraprofessional in the Life Skills classroom. In both of these roles Cindy's love of children and her care for her peers shows through on a daily basis. She is a trusted employee and a well-respected member of the campus team. As well as by the students and parents she works with every day.
Last spring Cindy began to notice some concerning health issues and because of her history knew the importance of brining her concerns to the attention of her primary care doctor. All test seemed fine at first but breathing became more difficult for her and the ability to function at the level she was accustomed to became more concerning leading to more test and many more doctor's visits. Cindy has now undergone three major surgeries and a pacemaker implant. The surgeries entailed harvesting an aortic valve and the placement of a bioprosthetic valve. She will still need medical care to address a carotid artery issue, and a spot found on her lung.
Cindy has been hospitalized for three weeks, much of which was in ICU. Her family does have insurance, but their portion of the astronomical bill is still high. Cindy is not getting paid at this time and Pat has been on FMLA to care for Connor and be with her and has also not received a paycheck. They could use our help to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes just knowing how much people care is enough to help turn the corner in the healing process. Please consider giving to support this family. We are instructed to be the hands and feet of God. Let's show this family that love. If you give, or even if you can't give, please share this with others. Thank you in advance, for making things a little easier on this precious family.
