My mom and our dear friend Cindi is facing a major health challenge and needs our support. After recently experiencing serious cardiac symptoms, Cindi has been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis, coronary artery disease, and diabetic heart disease. She is now preparing for open-heart surgery.

As many of you know, Cindi has spent over 30 years caring for others as a Certified Surgical Technologist. She’s been the steady hands in the operating room, showing up day after day for her patients and her team. Now, she’s the one who needs care. This surgery is life-saving—but the road to recovery will take time. Because Cindi has type one diabetes, her surgery is riskier and her recovery will be even more extensive. She won’t be able to work for a while and will need lots of rest to heal properly.

In addition to her usual daily costs of diabetic meds and supplies, there will be a significant financial strain from medical expenses, time off work, and daily living costs. Normally, Cindi and my stepdad both work to support their household, but with her out of work, the financial burden will fall solely on my stepdad, who will also be taking time off to care for her. The funds raised will help cover not only their bills during this time, but also the mounting medical expenses from all the appointments leading up to her surgery and the hospital stay afterward, which will be very expensive.

Cindi is also a proud mom and grandma, and her family means everything to her. She’s strong, but she shouldn’t have to go through this alone.
