Support Cierra's Mission to Boost Literacy through Pageantry

Hello all! My name is Cierra. I am a freelance editor and administrator at a local preschool in Dekalb County, GA. I am so excited to announce that I have qualified to be a contestant in the NAM National All-American Miss Pageant!

What is this? This is a state pageant which aims to build leadership, confidence, and community for young women, not only in Georgia, but nationwide. This pageant teaches skills such as networking, leadership, public speaking, and other confidence-boosting skills.

I won 1st runner-up in the Academic Achievement Category, which earned me an invitation to compete in the Miss (age 19-24) category to represent Georgia at the National competition in November. I need sponsors to help me get there. My goal of $5000 will help me with sponsorship fees, wardrobe, and other costs. I plan to use a portion of these proceeds to assist with boosting a program I am creating called Read Our Way to the Top!

I will use my platform to create and supplement a system where older students can mentor younger students to develop and support their literacy skills. The ultimate goal will be to raise the literacy rate here in Georgia; however, this endeavor will foster the growth of individual students. I'd love to raise awareness of these kinds of issues, especially with young girls, in order to assist as many children as possible with growing their literacy rate. This program will be in partnership with my local library for accessibility to all.
