On February 10th, what started as one of the most exciting days of my life turned into one of the most traumatic.

Earlier that day, I had just accepted a new job position and officially put in my two weeks notice. I had just finished doing some upgrades on my bike. I felt hopeful, proud, and ready for a fresh start. I had no idea that just hours later, everything would change.

While riding my motorcycle home, to grab my car so I could then go pick my kids up from school, I had stopped for gas at the Tacoma Costco. When leaving Costco, following several vehicles through the intersection, a driver ran a red light and hit me. Not only just hitting me and knocking me to the ground, but also continuing to run me over while being stuck under my bike. In an instant, an amazing day became a nightmare.

I am currently still in the hospital awaiting surgery. The impact broke my arm — the bone was snapped completely in half. I now have to undergo surgery to have a metal plate and screws placed in my arm. The pain has been overwhelming, and the emotional toll of everything happening so suddenly has been just as heavy.

Because of my injuries and upcoming surgery, I’m unable to work. With my transition between positions and now this unexpected accident, I don’t have the ability to earn income while I recover. Bills don’t stop and everyday expenses continue — even when your world feels like it’s standing still.
