It’s never easy to ask for help—especially from family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers—but here we are, reaching out with hope and gratitude.
At just 5 years old, our daughter Ciara was diagnosed with scoliosis. Over the years, we’ve tried various treatments and braces, always hoping to avoid surgery. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, her spinal curve has continued to progress. Now, at 15 years old, Ciara is scheduled to undergo spinal fusion surgery on October 10th, 2025—just 11 days after her 16th birthday.
Her surgery will take place at Shriner’s Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina—a facility we deeply trust to provide the best possible care for our sweet girl. However, the journey ahead involves several logistical and financial challenges. We will need to travel back and forth for pre-operative appointments, surgery, and post-operative care. While we are grateful for the care she will receive, extended time away from home comes with additional costs.
This fundraiser is intended to help us with a few key needs:
A comfortable recliner for Ciara to rest and recover in at home
Travel expenses, including gas and meals while away from home
Household adjustments to make her recovery smoother
Support while I take time off from work to care for Ciara during the first 3 critical weeks of healing
Ciara will remain in the hospital for nearly a week post-surgery, followed by a recovery period of at least three weeks at home before she can return to school. Full recovery may take 4–6 months. During this time, we’ll be doing everything we can to support her physically, emotionally, and academically.
We did not set a high fundraising goal, as we’re simply hoping to meet the basic needs that will make this recovery period more manageable and comfortable for Ciara.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and considering a donation to help support our daughter’s journey. Every gift—big or small—means the world to us.
With love and gratitude,
Danny and Carolynn
God bless.
