Hi my name is Ciara and my story started back in December of 2024. i’ve always had really bad periods, but this one was different. the pain was so bad i went to the er and they said it was just an ovarian cyst. we went to an obgyn, and they put me on the nexplnon. we thought the problem was over until a few months later it started back again, except this time it was worse. after what felt like millions of visits to the er and my new obgyn, Dr. Putnam finally opened me up and figured out my problem. Retrograde menstruation endometriosis. 2 weeks after my surgery, the pain was back again. we went back to my obgyn and he told us there was nothing else he could do for us. so that meant more er visits. Paris wasn’t doing much for us so we started going out of town for help. We tried sulphur springs, and it was just the same outcome. ivs, pain medicine, and release papers. then we went further, dallas, tx. we tried children’s and they couldn’t help. then we went to UT SouthWestern. they immediately admitted me and kept me for 4 days on pain management. when we got home, we were still hopeless. we called my primary dr , Dr. Milad. he referred us to a specialist back in dallas. when we finally got my appointment scheduled, i went to go see my specialist Dr. Kharoufah. he started me on some new medication and came up with a plan to keep my endometriosis under control. we started my lupron injections, and it finally felt like we had some hope. i took my injections for 2 months, then we ran into another problem. we started having communication issues between my insurance company and the pharmacy that supplied my lupron injections. that meant i went 3 months without my injection. during those 3 months my mom was on the phone fighting with both insurance companies and pharmacies and we had no answers due to those communication issues. worried that i would start my menstrual cycle again, in august she took me back to Dr. Putnam to get on the depo shot. everything was fine until september 22nd i came back down again. my mom had to take fml for the next 3 months with no pay. for weeks i was laying in bed screaming and crying and we didn’t know what to do. after many more calls to my insurance company, they finally told us they didn’t go through the pharmacy that had the injections. my mom called my specialists office and told them they couldn’t send it to that pharmacy due to my insurance so they had to send it to Ambers Specialty Pharmacy. finally we got everything figured out and made an appointment back to my specialists office and i got my injection a week and 2 days ago. today i am writing this still in excruciating pain. we went to see my gynecologist and she said i have stage 4 endometriosis and im going to have an invasive endometriosis surgery. that means they’re going to cut out all of my lesions and if they’re connected to any of my organs, parts of them will be cut out also. at this point the injections are not working how i need them to, and i only get to receive them for 6 months. my hospital bills are through the roof and traveling back and forth to dallas, staying in hotels, and co pay on my injections and future procedure will cost us a lot of money that we don’t have. my mom can’t work while i’m down, and my step dad has bills and other necessities that he has to pay. he can only pitch in so much. i’m not demanding money, i’m asking for help. anything works, and if not money, prayers.
