Hi, everyone! My name is Ciana. I’m a 31 yr old wife (newlywed), mom of 3, and nurse. On March 29, 2024, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer called Invasive Ductile Carcinoma Stage 2 breast cancer. This surprising diagnosis has put my family in financial bind. The purpose of this account is to finance the needs of my family and I during this difficult time while I am rarely well enough to work.

To share more, I have weekly appointments at UAB hospital for chemotherapy. On May 3rd, my port placement procedure caused me to miss work for a week due to weight restrictions. I planned on waiting as long as I could to start chemotherapy while I worked to save, but my doctor advised we start treatment immediately being that another lump had formed since my diagnosis in March. On May 13th, I started chemotherapy and was still unable to start back work because of the debilitating side effects. My job has been very accommodating with allowing me to work just enough to keep my health insurance when my body allows while also being mindful of my and my patients’ safety.

My dear husband is doing his best to provide and care for our family. Driving me to my doctor’s appointments at UAB (3 hours round trip) is causing him to miss work as well.

I have had multiple biopsies and still need more MRI’s, ultrasounds, mammograms, and so many other appointments that my insurance doesn’t cover. I will soon (hopefully end of summer) have a double mastectomy surgery to rid my body of this plague, and later a reconstruction surgery. Each of which will require a minimum of 6 weeks off work to recover.

Although this has already proven to be a tough year for my family, I'm very hopeful that I will be cancer free at the end of it. With the cost of living and medical bills increasing, if you have it in your heart to donate any amount, my family and I will be truly grateful. Thank you so much, God Bless.
