2/17/25 Update:
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated to Churro’s recovery. Your donation went towards paying for his surgery. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us

Since last month, Churro is straining to urinate and when he’s able to urinate, there’s a bit of blood. He’s also been experiencing incontinence and has been going everywhere in the house. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to get him checked as we currently cannot afford to take him to the vet.

I’m reaching out again for your help. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this would be just as helpful. Thank you so much for your support.

Original post:

Churro, our playful, loyal, and loving 4 year-old French Bulldog, was rushed to urgent care on Monday because he was having a hard time peeing and kept vomiting. X-rays showed a stone in his urethra causing blockage and so an emergency surgery was needed.

During the surgery, they found urine in his belly and “cysts” around his bladder. The veterinarian asked us if we wanted to continue with his surgery or euthanize him while he was already asleep. We asked him to continue with the surgery for obvious reasons.

The vet stated that he has been doing surgeries for 30 years and never saw a bladder that’s been so beat up and he’s not sure what the things are around the bladder so he’s calling them cysts. He thinks the urine in the belly came from the “cysts” so he tied them up. We are all hoping his method works and Churro can recover fully.

He was also supposed to get a hematoma surgery on his ear this Thursday due to a popped blood vessel. But it turns out, he had other issues we needed to focus on.  The vet ended up draining the blood from his ear instead of doing the surgery.

He got an incision in his belly, and in the back near his private area and ear drainage. He’s been through a lot the past few days. He is now home but the next 2 weeks will be crucial for his recovery.

Everything happened so fast. We didn’t see any symptoms until this weekend. We just celebrated Thanksgiving together and we hope it won’t be our last one together. He’s still so young and full
of energy.

In 2 weeks, Churro will need to undergo a urine test, which will show whether there is still urine in his stomach. If it is present, it is possible for toxins to build up in his system causing kidney failure. This test is an important part of his recovery process.

We ask upon you, out of the kindness of your hearts, to please consider giving what you can towards Churro's recovery as we wish to spend many more years together. 100% of your donation will go directly to his veterinary bills, which as of right now is $4,570 — not including his upcoming urine test.

Thank you for taking time to learn more about our Churro’s story. We appreciate your time and support.
