Support Chuck Nelson's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jason Denny, and I want to share the story of my dear friend Chuck Nelson, who recently went through a very difficult medical crisis. On Christmas Eve of 2024, Chuck was preparing dinner for his wife, mother, and sister when, unfortunately, they had to cancel the gathering because some family members weren't feeling well.
In the spirit of kindness,
Chuck decided to take some of the food he had lovingly prepared to his neighbor's house. Sadly, as he was making his way back home, he tripped and fell, sustaining a serious injury to his neck.
The damage was significant, and Chuck required surgery, which involved placing two pins and three grafts in his neck. It has been a challenging time for him, and he needs all the support we can offer as he navigates his recovery.
After his surgery, Chuck has been working hard to regain some movement in his left hand and feet, but progress with his right hand has been slow. He spent about a week in the hospital and then a challenging month in rehabilitation, as he waits for transfer to assisted living for further rehabilitation and physical therapy.
Currently, Chuck is feeling the weight of being out of work and having to retire earlier than he anticipated. He is hopeful for approval of disability benefits, but with his insurance set to lapse on February 7th, he will only have Medicaid for support, which adds to the stress of an already difficult situation.
Chuck has always been a bright light in our lives, known for his warm smile, hearty laughter, and generous spirit. Now, more than ever, it’s our turn to show our support and help him through this challenging time. He truly deserves it.
EDIT: When we made this we were so focused on telling Chuck's story, forgot to mention last year his wife Nancy had a stroke and had to retire early and go on disability. Making this health issue with Chuck even more magnified.
