Chuck McArthur, a well known & respected builder in Southern Colorado, recently suffered a massive stroke that has turned his world upside down. In an instant, Chuck and his wife Malia went from living their everyday lives to facing a totally different reality. After a month in the hospital, Chuck was able to come home this week, but the challenge of adjusting to this new daily life has been uncertain. The progress that he’s already made has all of us very hopeful for a full recovery, but he will have extensive outpatient therapy and from what I’m told it’s a slow process.

Those that know Chuck, know he is frustrated because he can't do what he was able to before, but he’s been working hard in his therapy appointments. His speech is slowly coming back, some words are much clearer than others (if you know Chuck, you know). He is starting to get movement in his right shoulder and bicep/tricep area. Nothing yet in his wrist or fingers, but hopefully that will be coming. Chuck’s stroke has left him unable to work, unable to care for himself or do his normal day to day activities. Malia is now his full time caregiver, including taking him to all of his doctor and therapy appointments. Chuck has medical insurance, but the financial strain is growing every day as they try to keep up with all of these added expenses and focus on his recovery.

Chuck and Malia have always been the first to step in and lend a hand to help others in need. Now, they are the ones who need our help! All of the funds raised will go directly toward covering Chuck’s medical bills, helping with daily living expenses due to loss of income, and making sure he can get to his doctor and physical therapy appointments. Every dollar will make a difference in easing their burden and giving them hope as they navigate this difficult journey.
