Last year, our uncle, Chuck Wilkinson, faced an unimaginable loss when he unexpectedly lost his wife. In the wake of that heartbreak, he was forced to uproot more than 30 years of his life, sorting through everything he owned and narrowing it down to only what he truly needed. He moved into a small cabin, hoping to begin healing and rebuilding quietly and simply.
Yesterday, tragedy struck again.
The cabin burned down completely, taking everything he owned with it. At this time, we do not have answers as to why the fire occurred, though it is suspected it may have started from the wood stove. What we do know is that nothing was salvaged.
Chuck is on s.s. making very little to make it by and nowadays economy! The fire destroyed all of his tools, equipment, personal belongings, clothing, and basic necessities. In a matter of minutes. He was left with nothing and is now forced to start again from absolute rock bottom.
We are reaching out to our community and surrounding areas for support during this incredibly difficult time. Chuck is a humble man who has always helped others when he could. Asking for help does not come easily—but right now, it is necessary.
All funds raised will go directly toward helping Chuck rebuild from the ground up, including:
Temporary stability and basic necessities.
Rebuilding a safe living structure.
Wood, insulation, electrical materials.
Electrical work and permits, if required.
Replacing essential tools so he can help rebuild
Keeping him warm, safe, and comfortable during this transition
Every donation—no matter the size—helps restore not just a home, but hope, dignity, and the ability to move forward after an overwhelming series of losses.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this time. It truly takes a community to help someone rise again.
With gratitude,
Chuck’s family
