Chuck Brady, beloved brother of my dear friend Katie Brady Sherry, passed away unexpectedly, leaving Katie and his other siblings to navigate the difficult process of making final arrangements. As next of kin, the siblings are facing a growing list of expenses, including funeral costs, time away from work, and the additional burden of traveling between out of state and Minnesota several times to take care of his things and arrangements. We may do all we can to plan for our own future, but few of us consider what happens if a sibling passes away. The status of life insurance is uncertain, adding to the financial strain.

They are doing their best to be frugal, but want to ensure they honor Chuck’s memory and give his loved ones, including his "first-responder family," a chance to say goodbye.

Any money raised through this fundraiser will go directly to funeral and travel arrangements for Chuck’s immediate family. If there are funds left over, the family plans to donate them to the Invisible Wounds Project in Forest Lake. They went to meet the team and see the work they do to help first responders that are dealing with PTSD and thoughts of suicide. In their own words, they "offer community, hope, healing, and support to veterans, first responders, frontline medical staff, corrections, 911 dispatchers, and their families. By connecting those we serve with specialized therapists and meaningful resources, we ensure care is personalized to each individual's unique journey, ensuring that you are not alone." Because Chuck’s family doesn’t want another family to go through the pain and heartache they are working through, they decided that any funds raised here that aren't needed for 'Chuck expenses' will be donated to IWP, to help them continue to serve the men and women that have chosen careers that help us all.

Chuck served the Twin Cities community in emergency services for many years, including as a paramedic, fire and rescue, and most recently as an EMS Inventory Technician for Allina Health Emergency Medical Services. He was a hero to many, including his family, and his loss is deeply felt. Chuck ended his life after suffering for many years from physical and mental trauma related to his experiences.
