Update:

Chrome has joined our Creator last July 5. He bravely fought with us until he can’t.
I want to thank everyone for their support and prayers for our family in these tough times.
I hope everyone can still help us as we still have a huge medical bill to settle.
______________
I honestly don't know where to start...
I remember Chrome complaining he has a headache. I thought it was only because of his eyeglasses not being the right grade. Then came unexplained low grade fevers. It was around April 19 that we had our consult to our pedia and pedia thought it was pharyngitis. He was given antibiotics for a week but his fever never went away. On our follow up last April 26, his blood tests still show that he has infection but our pedia said to just monitor to see if fever is still there. We also had his blood tested for typhoid but it turned out negative.
At this time, we decided to go home to my husband's hometown thinking that a change of environment will be better for him. However, few days after we arrived, the fever now came with vomiting and migraine. I rushed Chrome to the emergency room last May 9, and we were admitted to the hospital. From May 9-11, we stayed at Lorma Medical Center, La Union where more tests were done to see what causes his fever. There wasn't an infection detected as his white blood cells were in the normal range, Typhoid test turned out negative again, X-ray and urinalysis looked normal. Doctor said it might be allergies that triggers his fever and the migraine is because of his eyeglasses. We were sent home thinking it wasn't that serious because it was concluded that it might just be allergies.
The next day, we had his eyes checked and had his eyeglasses replaced. We were hoping the headache might go away but it didn't. The fever and vomiting also didn't stop. By May 17, we are back in the hospital and we were admitted again. This time, blood test showed infection and we were given a higher dose of antibiotics. First CT-Scan was done where it looked normal according to doctor. He also had a whole abdominal ultrasound where they only see fatty liver. Another Typhoid test was done, but after two tests that showed negative, we were told it's now positive. We now know what causes his fever and other sickness.
However, it just didn't stop from being just Typhoid fever. We were referred to a Pedia Neuro since they also wanted to eliminate Meningitis. He had a lumbar tap and the spinal fluid showed it is indeed Meningitis. His antibiotics changed and we were told that we needed to stay at the hospital for 10 days to treat his Meningitis. This was about a week into our hospital stay.
Still the complications didn't stop and come May 25, he suddenly became non-verbal. CT Scan was done again and it showed Hydrocephalus - there's fluid building up in his brain that causes his migraine. We were immediately sent down to the ICU ward, and by 11AM of May 26, Chrome had a temporary shunt inserted in his brain.
How I wish that everything's good from there but no. The next week has been a battle of infections after infections, and complications after complications. Just to list them made me want to cry for all the things that Chrome is going through right now - he has Pneumonia, Phlebitis, Ventriculitis, had a stroke, Dysautonomia, Meningoencephalitis, and TB Meningitis. Imagine that happening to a bubbly 10 year old boy who wanted nothing but play with his tablet and watch trivia videos on Tiktok with me.
We are reaching out to you today asking for financial help as Chrome battles these infections. The road has been incredibly tough, marked by numerous medical procedures and a critical operation essential for his recovery. As you can imagine, the mounting medical bills are overwhelming, and we need your help. Chrome is a fighter, but he cannot do this alone. Your generous contributions will go directly towards covering his medical expenses, ensuring he receives the best possible care during this challenging time. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to seeing Chrome healthy and happy again. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
