Christy Smeal States has already once had to fight for her life as a Covid Warrior. She has dealt with countless medical problems over the last 4 years. Then in July of 2024 she started to rapidly lose weight, 70 pounds in less than 3 months, found to have cirrhosis related to her severe Covid. She started paracentesis often to drain fluid off her abdomen. She was hospitalized so many times.

To bring us to today. She is currently at George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC fighting for her life. Her liver unfortunately is almost as bad as it can get and that is putting stress on the kidneys. They are completing all the tests to get her placed on the transplant list and she will be higher on the list due to severity of disease.

Her husband Jeremy, Mom and Dad Alyce and Randy Smeal have been by her side. Unfortunately a big hospital like that does not have any family houses or even help with parking. We don’t know how long she will be in right now, or if she possibly will have to stay until a transplant is available.

I ask family and friends of the Smeals and States to first come together and pray. Ask God to please be with Christy and her family during this time and that she will be able to have a transplant soon.

Many have reached out and would like to help. It’s so hard, I know I feel helpless, but if we can alleviate a little bit of the stress by them not having to worry about lodging expenses I think that would be helpful.
