Donate to Jason's funeral expenses

My name is Kylie and I am setting up a Go Fund Me account for my mom Christy Powell, who unexpectedly lost her husband Jason on Monday, 12/9/24.  Jason was a long-time member of the Yolo County Sheriff's department and was scheduled to retire next June.  Jason started in the sheriff office in 1998, worked at court services, patrol and civil division.  He was an instructor in the county’s drone team and had many friends who cared for him.

 

My brother and I were lucky to have Jason as our stepfather and he treated us every day as though we were his own children.  He was always there for us when we needed anything. He was so incredibly kind and caring, goofy and fun, loving, and hard working. 

 

Our family is understandably shocked by this loss and unfortunately not prepared for all that is happening at this time. Losing a loved one is always difficult, but coping with a sudden loss adds a different element to the grieving process. It doesn’t follow a pattern and there’s often a lack of closure. There are also added financial stressors, such as the cost of planning a funeral or the loss of a spouse’s income to pay for household expenses and relocation.

 

I'd like to show our support to Christy and our family during this difficult time by helping her cover unexpected costs due to this sudden tragedy. Anything you can do to help  during this time of heartbreak is greatly appreciated.
