Hello, my name is Karen, and I am raising money for my boyfriend, Christopher Stanley. After months of doctor visits, countless tests, and several MRIs, we finally received answers about what’s been causing Chris so much pain. Earlier this year, he woke up one morning unable to lift his left arm. We rushed to the hospital, but no one could determine what was wrong. Since last February, he’s been living with constant pain and frustration as we searched for answers. We finally found an incredible doctor at Memorial Hermann who discovered that Chris has damage to his spinal cord and two areas in his neck that never fused properly — something he was born with. Both of these issues now need to be repaired through surgery scheduled for December . The recovery process will take about six months, during which he’ll be unable to work. Chris is a devoted life skills teacher who loves his students deeply. He’s the kind of teacher who always goes above and beyond to help others, and now he’s the one who needs a little help. We’re raising funds to help cover his surgery deductible, as well as the expenses before and after surgery — including bills while he’s unable to work, medical needs, and a new adjustable bed to help with his recovery. We’re also working on organizing a community fundraiser with a barbecue, silent auction, and live music to support him through this time. This surgery is critical. The doctor explained that without it, even a small fall or bump could leave him permanently paralyzed. As scary as that is, we’re beyond grateful that we finally have answers and a skilled surgeon who can help him heal and hopefully regain full use of his arm. If you’re able to donate or simply share this GoFundMe, we would be so deeply thankful. Every bit of support — financial or emotional — means the world to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Chris get the care he needs and for standing by us on this journey.
