Hello my name is Christopher scales jr but most people know me as CJ. I’m currently 18 years old. I’ve just graduated from high school earlier this June. I want to go to college to be a nurse. My aunt is nurse and I’ve always loved how caring and attentive she was to everyone around her.

I told her a long time ago that I wanted to be a nurse just like her and that she’s the one who inspired me to be one. She said that she believes I have the mind and heart to do it. So today I would like to introduce myself as Christopher. Most people know me as an athlete or performer but there’s more to me than that. I am an older brother, A student, a teammate and more. With all of these roles comes the responsibility of being a leader. Knowing that theirs always someone watching me. Not to judge me to but to find inspiration or guidance. So I try my best to stay out of trouble and try new things that create a positive impact. Not only in my life but my siblings and the people around me. I know raising 4 boys isn’t easy so I do everything I can to make my parents proud so they know their sacrifices meant the world to me. I started with playing drums when I was in middle school. It’s always been a way for me to express myself when I didn’t have the words to. I also found joy in the fact that my hard work was seen as a form of entertainment and motivation for others. No matter what I was going through I could always pick my drum and just let it all go. Basketball was also an outlet for me but also something special I got to share with my dad. I’ve been playing basketball since I was 3 years old. Ever since I can remember my dad was there cheering me on through my success and coaching me through my failures.

Ever since I’ve played basketball it showed me the importance of being a team player and how to prioritize what’s best for the team and not just myself.

Basketball and my dad showed me that nothing comes easy. If you really want something you have to work for it and be willing to ask for help when the time comes. So today I come to you all and I’m asking that you all help me reach my goal of going to college and becoming a nurse. I want my brothers to know that’s hard work does pay off and their allowed to dream big and have big goals for themselves because their achievable.
