Christopher’s Fight Against a CSF Infection

Donation protected
On May 4, 2025, Christopher was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital after experiencing severe and concerning symptoms. After extensive testing, doctors diagnosed him with a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) infection—a rare and serious condition requiring immediate and ongoing medical intervention.

On May 8, surgeons removed three abscesses from his abdomen and externalized the tubing of his shunt to manage the infection. Just days later, on May 11, the infection had progressed to his brain, forcing doctors to completely remove his shunt and place an external ventricular drain (EVD). A new shunt cannot be placed until at least two weeks after the first negative CSF culture, marking just the beginning of a very long and delicate recovery process. On May 16, doctors began giving antibiotics through his EVD straight to the brain with hopes to get the infection under control.

In addition to fighting a severe brain infection, Chris is also being treated for complications including left renal atrophy, a swollen kidney, and vesicoureteral reflux—each adding new layers of complexity to his care.

The emotional and financial toll of this medical crisis is immense. Hospital stays, procedures, follow-up appointments, medications, and travel expenses are mounting quickly.

This diagnosis has turned Christopher’s world upside down. He is currently undergoing intensive treatment, including intravenous antibiotics, neurological monitoring, and supportive care. While his medical team is doing everything possible to aid in his recovery, the road ahead will be long, challenging, and costly. There is currently no anticipated discharge date from the hospital.

We are raising funds to help cover the significant medical expenses associated with his hospitalization, treatment, and recovery. This includes:
• Hospital and ICU stay
• Medications and treatments
• Specialized neurological care
• Transportation to and from medical appointments
• Recovery and rehabilitation costs

Christopher is an amazing son, grandson, great-grandson, nephew, and friend to many. He’s known for his kind heart, resilience, and sense of humor—even in difficult times. Now, he needs our help more than ever.

Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in easing the financial burden on Christopher and his family. If you’re unable to donate at this time, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others who may be able to help.

Let’s come together for Christopher in his fight for healing and hope. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and prayers.
